Job description
Do you want to lead, inspire, and motivate our Environment Agency teams and our partners to be the best they can be for our communities and the environment? Are you an experienced leader and line manager looking to take your skills to the next level?
We are seeking experienced leaders who can motivate people, have an eye on delivering value for money and can work across technical and organisational boundaries to achieve outcomes. You will be flexible in your leadership style and able to adapt to your audience, presenting compelling cases to benefit the environmental and the communities we serve, and acting as an ambassador for our organisation when working with external partners. You will promote our ambitions around equality, diversity and inclusion ensuring that everyone who works here makes the Environment Agency a life-enhancing place to work.
We have several Senior Team Leader roles available (permanent and fixed term) and welcome applicants who are looking to work reduced hours. These roles range from flood risk and climate change adaptation to spatial planning and the ‘green growth’ agenda in our region.
This role includes the option to enrol on a fully funded ‘Operations or Departmental Manager Apprenticeship’ (Level 5).

The team
Our leadership roles cover a diverse range of teams across the whole of Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire. We are recruiting to teams that work in our Warrington hub office. You will be part of the Area Leadership Group helping to make our area an even better place to work and live.
Experience/skills required
Our people are our number one priority. You will be passionate about leading, developing and supporting people and will be a positive role model who can inspire others.
You will have strong leadership skills and believe that providing great leadership is fundamental to our ability to protect and improve the environment for people and wildlife. You should have extensive experience of leading teams of people and ‘place based’ leadership; leading and coordinating the interests of multiple stakeholders internally and externally to an organisation.
We welcome experience from a wide range of sectors, not just environment and regulation, and we value the passion and transferrable skills that candidates can bring to the role.
You will take part in incident response and support your team to do the same
