JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Sheet Metal Installation Field Superintendent, the
Sheet Metal Mechanic will work with a variety of job tasks associated with the installation of
sheet metal products. utilize power tools and operate machinery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Loading ductwork onto trucks with a hand truck
  • Clean work area, empty trash, and metal scraps
  • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines to determine the proper placement of ductwork
and other related materials.
  • Install and direct installation of assemblies in buildings and worksites.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine the sequence and
methods of installing ductwork and other related material.
  • Work safely on assigned tasks such as filing, grinding, deburring, and buffing of metal
surfaces.
  • Able to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Able to erect and remove the scaffolding.
  • Follow and interpret company policies and procedures to workers and enforce safety
regulations.
  • Work safely on assigned tasks such as hammering, chipping, and grinding workpieces to cut, bend,
and straighten metal.
  • Assemble ductwork using hand and air-driven tools.
  • Able to safely operate power tools, machinery, and forklift as assigned.
  • Review weekly safety toolbox talks.
  • Speak, write, read, and understand the English language well enough to perform the job's
essential duties.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Provide daily workdirective to both Journeyman and Laborers on a project.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Completion of Apprenticeship or Trade School preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of commercial sheet metal field experience.
  • Possess active listening skills. Able to give full attention to what is being said, taking time to understand the points being made, and ask questions.
  • Demonstrate honest and ethical behaviors in business relationships and transactions.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Sheet Metal Journeyman License Preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: the ability to adjust focus. Dexterity of hands to perform the tasks required of the position. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as (but not limited to) steel toe boots, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and fall protection.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The workplace in which this employee performs the essential duties may be in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and West Virginia. Work is conducted indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes and all types of weather. Wet and slippery conditions can be present. The work area can have debris, trip hazards, and uneven terrain present. May be exposed to chemical hazards.
