Job description
Do you like working outdoors? Do you really enjoy working in a practical hands-on role and fixing things? If so, we have a great opportunity for you to join our Dewatering team as a Shift Operator.
If you have previous hands-on experience, whether that be general mechanical or electrical maintenance experience, labouring, groundworks or pipe fitting and are now looking to put your current skills set to good use, then we want to hear from you!
The role
As the Shift Operator, your role will be to carry out the operation and maintenance of the advanced sewage and dewatering plant to meet quality standards.
The role involves the operation and maintenance of conventional wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations to meet quality standards. You will also be involved in running advanced wastewater treatment and sludge process plants.
You will play a big part in the team in ensuring compliance with company policy, processes and procedures. You must also ensure the health, safety and welfare of all colleagues, the public and yourself at all times.
Day to day, your role will involve operating the assets in an efficient and robust manner, maximising the sewage treatment/sludge quality and productivity to make the most of our resources.
This will include:
- general maintenance on plant equipment
- building mechanical equipment
- general tidying of the site
You must also ensure the health, safety and welfare of all colleagues, the public and yourself at all times. You may be required to provide emergency cover as required on the standby rota.
What do I need?
You'll be working within a great team, outdoors, dealing with different challenges every day. As we said earlier, this role is perfect if you are a practical minded person and enjoy being hands on solving problems.
If you have previous experience working unsupervised in an industrial or process plant, that would be desirable. However, we are able to give consideration to those who have experience in general mechanical or electrical maintenance, labouring, groundworks or pipe fitting.
It is essential that you have a self-motivated work ethic, hard-working nature and good communication skills
You must be happy working outdoors in all conditions. Full training will be provided, including Confined Spaces training, as will other qualifications applicable to the role.
A valid manual UK driving licence is essential for this role.
