Position Type: Temp to hire, full time for the right candidate

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The In-Situ Shipping Technician is responsible to ensure customer orders are effectively packaged and sent on time to the right destinations around the globe. This role is responsible to manage a broad range of shipping requirements between domestic and international shipping, including shipping dangerous goods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a reliable team player, prepared and on time for the work shift, scheduled meetings and assignments
  • Package outgoing shipments to adequately protect them from damage in transit, including strapping and shrink wrapping of freight shipments
  • Understand departmental policies and procedures for shipping Sales orders, Rental Orders, and Service orders
  • Prepare miscellaneous shipments per In-Situ policy
  • Prepare shipping labels and documentation for shipments via 3 main carriers, Federal Express, United Parcel Service and DHL, for both domestic and international shipments
  • Schedule and prepare documentation for LTL Freight shipments
  • Initiate shipments via Freight Forwarders including documentation preparation, scheduling pickups and follow up through delivery. Includes air, ground and ocean shipment
  • Become certified to ship Dangerous Goods through training and passing the required examination.
  • Maintain shipping supplies inventory including ordering supplies directly from supplier utilizing In-Situ’s Kanban system
  • Resolve shipping exceptions/issues in a timely manner
  • Escalate and resolve any issues arising due to shipping software or equipment
  • Prepare freight quotes at the request of other departments, such as sales and purchasing
  • Meet daily shipping deadlines and cutoffs for carrier pickups
  • Communicate companywide via email, relevant shipping information such as weather-related service delays and holiday schedules
  • Coordinate with carriers regarding company closures, holiday schedules, etc.
  • Support rentals, service, and receiving during down time

JOB REQUIERMENTS:

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple departments. Proven communication and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Windows OS and Windows Office products (Excel and Word)
  • Problem solver and team player with a strong work ethic. Must be punctual to shift times.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities
  • Process oriented
  • High Sense of urgency when needed
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States

DESIRED ATTRUBUTES:

  • Computer skills – Basic understanding of MS Outlook, MS Access, and MS Excel
  • Experience with FedEx Insight and UPS World Ship Software.
  • Understanding of packaging methods and techniques
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and understanding of Kanban

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Computer system data terminal
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Lifting, bending, reaching, squatting, walking, sitting
