Job description

We are looking for a quick and organized short order cook who can handle all aspects of food preparation. Responsibilities include keeping food preparation areas clean, preparing food on a flat top griddle in accordance with the restaurant guidelines, frying foods, ordering and stocking kitchen and food supplies, prepping items required for completing orders, and expediting orders in the window area.

To be an excellent and successful short order cook, you should have good time management skills as well as the ability to work quickly and multitask during peak periods. You must also be able to follow instructions from management in cooking and delivering well-prepared and presentable meals. You must be deft in easily moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation as we continue to expand our clientele.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Cook food in various utensils or grillers
• Check food while cooking to stir or turn
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Check quality of ingredients
• Monitor stock and replace items when there are shortages
• Perform end of day clean up within the kitchen area
• May be responsible for opening and closing
• Assist co-workers as needed

Skills

• Proven experience as cook
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Ability to ensure all items of an order are finished and served at the same time
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team
• Very good communication skills
• Excellent physical condition and stamina

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
