PPT Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Software Airworthiness Engineer located in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities and Duties for the Software Airworthiness Engineer:
Conducts software system safety evaluations for DoD systems. Supports software system requirements identification and development process by evaluating and assessing planning, design, development, production and operations for DoD software systems architectures. Prepares and writes formal Systems Safety Hazard Analysis Reports to categorize and summarize all potential software-hardware interaction hazards. Performs software safety-critical and mission-critical systems analysis throughout the life cycle from initial requirements through design, implementation, testing, delivery, and support. Utilizes excellent written and oral communication skills to maintain successful daily interaction with customer and teammates. Operates proactively with ability to handle significant responsibility, and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications for the Software Airworthiness Engineer:
- ABET accredited BS in Computer Science, Computer, Software, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering
- Familiarity with software development/lifecycle IEEE 12207, MIL-STD-498
- Experience developing embedded mission critical software in C, C++, or ADA
- Experience with Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and/or Failure Mode, Effects & Critically Analysis (FMECA)
- Working knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516, DO-178, MIL-STD-882, JSSSEH, AMCOM Regulation 385-17, SAE ARP 4761, or similar software safety standards
- Travel - 10%
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the required level
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Desired Qualifications for the Software Airworthiness Engineer:
- Knowledge of static and dynamic code analysis
- Experience with Model Based Software Development
- Familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, SCADE, etc.
- Experience with Army Aviation SW Systems
- Experience with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD)
- Knowledge of the Airworthiness Release (AWR) process
- Knowledge of Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC) or MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria
- Knowledge of the integration and verification of large systems
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- This job typically operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise level. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time. This role may require lifting lightweight objects, typically used in an office environment, such as a computer laptop, files or copy paper.
- For some, acknowledged at hire and in support of specified contract tasks, this role may be required to work outside in moderate weather conditions, stand/remain stationary for long hours, and climb in and out of vehicles/aircraft. The noise level in this work environment ranges from moderate to loud and may require protective devices such as wearing ear plugs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to differentiate between colors.
