Software Test Engineer


SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER

PURPOSE

This position is responsible for developing software applications used in new and existing Electro Mechanical test systems designed in-house and used at Bayer’s O’Hara manufacturing site and/ or at a supplier and that have an impact on the business performance of the O’Hara medical device manufacturing site.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Software Test Engineer, are to:


  • Define requirements for software that will be part of the test systems used to test the medical devices and / or components that are manufactured at the O’Hara site or at a supplier;
  • Understand test fixture and test system requirement specifications for testing electro-mechanical medical device products/components;
  • Develops software for electro-mechanical test systems that meets the requirement specification defined for the test systems;
  • Tests and troubleshoots new and existing software for test fixtures and test systems;
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment consisting of electrical engineers, validation engineers and technicians;
  • Provides expertise and/or technical leadership for various test engineering software projects;
  • Successfully work in cross-functional teams consisting of product development, test engineering and manufacturing engineers to ensure successful transfer of new products from development to manufacturing;
  • Independently plans and manages own work activities with minimal supervision to align with department objectives and to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables;
  • Leads and/or support test engineering SW design reviews at the project level as needed;
  • Proactively provides technical consulting, leadership and advice to peers and program management;
  • Proactively and independently communicates project level information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATONS


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering;
  • Minimum 2 years of practical work experience developing and testing software in a regulated environment;
  • Experience in developing software in .Net (C#) & C++ ;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work well in fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to multi-task several high priority projects at a given time;
  • Working knowledge and proven skills in MS Office applications and MS projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS

  • 2 years of experience in defining software requirements for test systems/ fixtures;
  • Experience in LabVIEW, and TestStand;
  • Direct experience within the medical device industry (FDA Regulated) and ISO 13485, ISO 62304;
  • Experience in software validation testing;
  • Some level of project management experience.
