Position: Special Education Teacher (full-time)

Evergreen Elementary & Oakwood Intermediate

Posting Dates: May 5th - Until Filled

Reports To: Director of Special Education/ Building Principal

Effective Date of Employment: August 24, 2023

Qualifications:

● Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required

● Special Education Endorsement(s) CI, ASD, EI, or LD

● Knowledge of Special Education rules and regulations

● Experience working with various disabilities and delivering specialized instruction to varying ages, including in a co-taught setting

● Experience with data collection and progress monitoring

● Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the areas of child development, educational disabilities, and the impact of trauma and behavior on student learning/social functioning

● Knowledge and experience using positive behavior interventions, peer support, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing

● Proven organizational skills and ability to plan and use time efficiently

Job Requirements:

● Instruct students with disabilities in an elementary setting utilizing a range of service delivery models, including co-teaching, that ensure the maximum least restrictive environment

● Knowledge and ability to effectively apply the Common Core State Standards, with particular emphasis on teaching, learning, and assessment of standards

● Knowledge of and commitment to regularly using technology as an instructional tool to enhance teaching and learning

● Knowledge of and ability to implement regularly cooperative learning and flexible grouping

● Participate in building level pre-referral activities/interventions, such as Multiple Tiered

Systems of Support (MTSS) or Child Study processes; support trauma-informed school-wide practices.

● Collaborate with teams in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and developing Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs)

● Collaborate with building teams in the de-escalation of students

● Conduct all case management duties including, but not limited to, participation in multidisciplinary evaluations, scheduling/attending IEP meetings, and maintaining all documentation

● Assist teachers in providing accommodations and modifications for special education students in regular education classrooms and school/community settings

● Supervise and provide direction to paraeducators assigned to program

● Regular and reliable attendance is expected

● Willing to perform other duties as necessary and/or directed by special education director or principal.

Pay: $43,481.00 - $79,199.48 per year
