Salary:
The 23/24 salary range is being developed. The current range begins at $75,153.

Summary: The Administrator of Special Programs is responsible for the leadership, supervision, hiring, budgeting, and day-to-day management for all special programs and related staff. This individual provides leadership for the implementation of a continuum of services and programming, including advocacy, aligned to federal and state regulations for students with disabilities, gifted and talented and multilingual learners. Collaborate with BECS administrators to facilitate problem-solving and adult learning opportunities for the entire BECS staff.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or higher in an education-related field
Must hold a Special Education Director or Principal license from the Colorado Department of Education or be able to obtain licensure by the end of the first contract year
A minimum of 3 years of instructional leadership position in a school or other educational setting
A minimum of 5 years working in a Special Education related position
CLD Certification or Coursework preferred, but not required
The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously
The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team. (Having respected and trusted colleagues, preferably as teammates, makes the demands of teaching sustainable.)
The ability and interest to learn continuously and to adapt to changing circumstances (student characteristics, curriculum, and so on).
A belief in empowering all children as owners of their learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of special programs
- Advocate for special programs learners in classroom, grade level and schoolwide decision-making
- Develop and monitor quality of special programs service delivery, instruction and curricular resources
- Ensure alignment with IDEA and ECEA rules and regulations along with CLD and GT program rules and regulations.
- Facilitate professional learning communities to monitor evidence of student progress
- Evaluate special programs staff in alignment with BECS policies and procedures
- Plan and execute professional learning opportunities
- Collaborate with BECs administrators and staff to support school initiatives
- Represent special programs on BECS Assessment Team
- Engage with other stakeholders, including families, District 27J liaisons and community members
- Other duties as assigned
Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Understanding of requirements of federal (IDEA) and state (ECEA) special education regulations
- Familiarity with CLD and GT programming and a willingness to deepen understanding of programming best practices.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for specially-designed instruction
- Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing
- Familiarity with Google applications, documents, sheets, forms and compliance platforms (IEPs, ALPs, CLD Plans)
- Understanding best practices for adult learning
