Job Summary: The Specialized Accountant, Expense will provide general accounting support for the recording and analysis of expense activities. Focus areas include, but not limited to, risk management, legal and environmental, sales and use tax related items, restructuring, and incentive accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with internal and external business partners such as Business Units, Risk Management, Legal, Tax, FP&A, Technical Accounting, etc. on the review and recording of business activity.
• Assist with month-end-close by preparing general ledger entries, maintaining records and files and reconciling accounts for areas such as risk management, legal, environmental, sales and use tax, restructuring, and incentive accounting.
• Analyze information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verify the information.
• Identify process improvement opportunities using lean principles.
• Function effectively in high paced environment with multiple priorities.
• Effectively communicate with audiences ranging from plant level employees to senior company leadership.
• Research and advise finance teams and account teams concerning the accounting treatment of tax transactions.
• Develop and document best practices and processes.
• Assist with annual audit, SOX controls assessment and compliance, and tax return preparation.
• Perform special projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline required
• Masters degree preferred and/or CPA, CMA
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting role.

Key Competencies:

• Process Improvement and Project management skills required
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley legislation
• Strong PC skills required: Microsoft Office Suite (with Excel emphasis)
• Knowledge of Trane Technologies systems preferred (Oracle, OneStream, Tableau, Alteryx)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
• Must be able to perform in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with management
• Team player, able to build rapport throughout the organization
• Must demonstrate high personal integrity and ethics

Base Pay Range: $57,000-119,500
