SUMMARY OF ROLE:
We are looking for a Senior Algorithms and Data Systems Engineer to join our team and help develop innovative algorithms and associated data systems for our life-saving products. These algorithms drive the core functionality of all products built by the company, including wearable device performance, wearable and mobile device communication, and cloud data management. The ideal candidate can translate business needs into algorithm and data system design, development, and testing. They are also able to keep the longer-term plans for the company in mind while developing these systems, and as such are comfortable contributing to strategic planning related to algorithms and data systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use algorithms, machine learning, and data science expertise and experience to design, develop, and test algorithms and data systems used by the company.
Act as project lead on algorithm and data systems development and test projects, including planning and execution, with cross-functional alignment.
Collaborate with the software team to define data architecture for device and business operations needs including transformations, storage, and interfaces to data processing and machine learning algorithms.
Contribute to development and refinement of the Algorithm and Data Systems technology roadmap to fulfill business needs.
Write protocols, perform testing, and write reports for algorithm and data systems testing, both at the exploratory engineering level and formal validation testing level.
Define technical content for design documents including design requirements, design specifications, and risk management files.
Set up new methods, processes, and tools, and lead the implementation of these to improve the process of algorithm experimentation and testing with a view to accelerating product development timelines.
Provide algorithm and data science support during clinical studies and commercial release of new systems.
Collaborate on algorithm quality and best practices in alignment with engineering leadership.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the company on all matters related to algorithms, data science, statistics and data-driven engineering practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, statistics, or equivalent. M.S. preferred.
5+ years of relevant engineering experience in industry. Prior experience with medical devices or health-related products preferred.
Experience leading or supporting projects within a cross-functional team environment.
Proficiency in signal processing, data analysis, algorithm development, machine learning and statistical theory.
Proficiency in data processing, visualization and statistical tools and languages such as: MATLAB; Python; R; Excel; Minitab etc.
Thorough understanding of the translation of algorithmic techniques to embedded firmware code and custom hardware processing architectures.
Proficiency in managing the deployment and maintenance of machine learning algorithms in deployed software environments.
Proficiency working with database systems for querying and creating datasets. Working knowledge of modern data-handling and loading file-formats such as pickle files.
Familiarity with software graphics, image handling and plotting languages and/or software.
Awareness of best practices for software and product development.
Preferred experience with medical system integration (EMR, for example) using standards such as HL7 FHIR.
Preferred knowledge of machine learning, data systems and backend architecture for Cloud
computing.Preferred knowledge of streaming data technologies such as Spark and Hadoop.

The salary for this exempt-level position will be based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range.
Salary Range: $150,000 - $170,000.
