Sr. Structural Engineer to serve in a key role to the preparation of engineering plans, costs and oversight of this long-term series of transit projects for the MBTA, including stations, track, signal, substations and yard and shop facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform advanced professional engineering in connection with major or complex engineering projects and/or multiple projects simultaneously
- Complete challenging engineering computations, analysis, and lead designs from conception to completion
- Prepare design packages utilizing QA/QC policy and all applicable client standard and code requirements
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and costs for projects
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work
- Assist with scope development and prepare cost estimate of new work
- Interface with clients and develop proposals for service
- Review shop drawings and other vendor documentation for conformity with specifications and prepare technical reports
- Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
- Review and help to ensure production and quality standards are achieved by junior team members
- Responsible for sealing of plans or other legal/official documents as applicable
- Work closely with Supervising Engineer to assist with providing technical oversight and mentorship to junior team members
- Work cross-collaboratively and aid efforts in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of engineering work
- Perform and/or review field survey work and evaluate collected data; assist with field engineering support and inspections as needed
- Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly
- Other duties as assigned
Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil and/or structural engineering with an emphasis in structures from an ABET-accredited university or college.
- MS Structural preferred
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in MA
- 7 to 10 years of experience independently planning, performing, and coordinating advanced level professional and technical engineering studies, computations, drawings, reports, and surveys
- Advanced knowledge of design techniques and tools in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Strong background in the development of Type Study Reports and design of bridges for MassDOT and other local transportation agencies.
- Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and MassDOT Bridge Manual code requirements.
- Working knowledge of computer-aided design software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering required (i.e. AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

- Valid driver’s license required
- Up to 15% travel (i.e. job sites) may be required based upon business need
