Job description
The department of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico is seeking a highly motivated and energetic professional to serve as the Sr. Fiscal Services Tech. The Department of Computer Science is a research-active academic department and requires a Sr. Fiscal Services Tech to assist with a wide variety of accounting functions and administrative processes.
The individual in this position will initiate, process, and maintain records of a variety of complex fiscal, budgetary, and associated transactions. This individual will investigate and resolve problems related to funds, budgets, expenditures, and procurement practices, and provide reports and analyses on complex fiscal issues, as assigned. It is critical that the individual be able to provide assistance in the development, implementation, and management of fiscal systems and procedures, applying basic concepts, methods, and techniques.

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Ability to understand and apply general accounting processes.
- Experience with UNM accounting systems and processes (Banner, MyReports, Workflow, ePAFs, Labor Distributions, JVs, Chrome River, LoboMart)
- Ability to understand and apply University policies and procedures and Federal/State financial regulations.
- Experience preparing and monitoring restricted budgets using finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control procedures.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Experience with UNM purchasing card and related policies.
- Experience reconciling, balancing, and maintaining standard accounting records.
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information.
