Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Superintendent oversees all field operations on a project to ensure that self-performed and subcontracted trade work is in compliance with contract documents and the project schedule. Superintendents also implement and enforce safety and quality control policies among Peacock employees and subcontractors.

  • Resolve problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule, and all other appropriate matters
  • Managing the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with company standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations
  • Supervising and developing assistant superintendents, field engineers, and/ or interns, as assigned, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals
  • Recruit, organize, train, direct and coordinate field construction team including subcontractor's direct hire work
  • Assure work quality & set standards for quality control
  • Forecast needs and initiate orders for materials and tools
  • Communicating with owners and architects/engineers about field issues
  • Managing the billing process as it relates to work in place and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications
  • Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents
  • Prepare necessary reports (i.e. time sheets, work orders, daily reports and invoice approval)
  • Document and complete all punch lists in a timely manner
  • Review all drawings, specifications, and subcontractor submittals
  • Chair or attend pre-job conference, regular subcontractor meetings
  • Perform start-up testing and turnover to Owner
  • Document final close-out and Owner's acceptance
  • Perform manual work only in rare circumstances when, in employee's independent judgment, exigent circumstances require it
  • Ability to travel as required by management
  • Ability to supervise multiple projects over a large geographic area as required by management
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ Years of Construction Management experience as a Superintendent
  • Proven knowledge of OSHPD standards and 1 year of experience as a project manager in healthcare construction required for healthcare related projects.
  • Extensive field construction experience at supervisory level
  • Current Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification, or achievement of STS Certification within six months of hire, maintenance of active certification status
  • Working knowledge of all crafts (ability to read and understand specifications for all trades), and prior experience as foreman or journeyman in at least one trade, or project engineer
  • Knowledge of OSHA laws
  • Knowledge of job scheduling, planning, expediting and cost control
  • Ability in problem-solving
  • Strong sense of urgency

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Frequent use of hands, rotation of wrists and finger dexterity for computer keyboard; moderate reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling file drawers of 10 – 50 pounds.
  • Occasional walking and climbing stairs when visiting job sites/clients; exposure to outdoors, dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather. PPE is required.
  • Infrequent kneeling, bending, or twisting upper body; lifting 10-20 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $175,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
