The Banking Solutions group is comprised of multiple teams focusing on various programs supporting the company. These programs include Payments, Deposits, Loans, and Cards. With respect to these programs, this group provides strategic success and optimized operations to support corporate objectives for UMB and its clients.
As the Sr. Mainframe Manager of Application Development & Support, you will lead the Electronic Banking (ELB) team and work with many business partners. You will partner with the Banking Solution group in the development of our ongoing interface strategy including new channels and execution of its long-range plans. Leadership responsibilities also include providing optimized operations that are highly available, scalable, and reliable to UMB and its customers. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which involves other multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. This role is hybrid (2 days on-site) for candidates in Kansas City area and open to qualified remote candidates outside of Kansas City area.
How you’ll spend your time:
- Defining and executing business strategy over a 12-24-month horizon while engaging, seeking input, and gaining consensus from interested, impacted, and affiliated parties. This also includes developing the technology roadmap aligned with the strategy.
- Leading and driving solution recommendations using gap analyses, alternative analyses, and total cost of ownership analyses across multiple technology options.
- Maintaining strong relationships with mid-level business partners and occasionally with executive level business partners including demonstrating understanding of the business and serving as the technology expert, participating in business meetings, including articulating business value of technology solutions to business partners.
- Focusing on manager and associate management and development and using previous experience with competency-based management programs.
- Providing coaching including listening and providing timely feedback to managers and associates.
- Participating in planning and management of budget and delivery of end results.
- Managing projects and work efforts to a System Delivery Life Cycle process (SDLC) and Project Management Life Cycle.
We’re excited to talk with you if:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, at least 10 years of IT work experience, and at least 5 years management of development teams.
- You have at least 3 years banking or financial services industry experience.
- You have a broad mainframe technical background and knowledge of COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and related utilities.
- You have knowledge and experience in Mainframe application support.
- You understand how to drive business outcomes via technology.
The pay range for a candidate selected for this position who is based in Colorado is typically $105,000 to $194,880 annually. The selected candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, including but not limited to work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay for the selected candidate may be above or below this range. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in one or more incentive plans based on company and individual performance.

Compensation Range:
Minimum: $105,000.00 - Mid Point: $149,940.00 - Maximum: $194,880.00
