Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will passionately drive corporate product growth and sustainability through innovative design, disciplined testing, and comprehensive product knowledge within a dynamic customer focused environment serving the military and aerospace industries. The Engineer will be immersed in cultivating a technical center of excellence within the company. The Engineer will be challenged to proactively assess opportunities to gain a competitive advantage in the market and leverage corporate assets to innovate solutions for our customers. The Engineer will be a self-motivated initiator who can work independently, as well as contribute, provide leadership, and work in a close-knit team environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Leadership. Must take an active leadership role to manage small teams, ensuring project completion.
- Key member of Engineering technical team that is responsible for ensuring Engineering Design Projects, assigned from both external and internal customers, are completed accurately, on-time, and exceed customer expectations.
- Propose, lead, and manage projects that involve research, development, and integration into salable products.
- Mentor Engineers and Technicians from both technical and corporate culture standpoints.
- Contribute to and collaborate with engineering team resources to accurately innovate, validate, and document new products or processes.
- Initiate and lead enhancement projects that challenge existing product/process concept and design using lean and six sigma approaches.
- Research and analyze data (such as customer and military design requirements, specifications, standards, and manuals) to establish concept, feasibility, and applicability to a product design.
- Design, execute, and document detailed test protocols to validate existing and new product designs.
- Ensure Engineering Manager is adequately informed of project status and is aware of any obstructions to successful progression that cannot be effectively eliminated at the Engineer level.
- Maintain and update engineering documentation by adhering to ISO9001/AS9100 requirements.
- Utilize project management methodologies to plan, coordinate, track, and analyze projects.
- Actively seek out personal and corporate knowledge enhancement through continued education, professional memberships, or external training opportunities.
- Professional Engineering mindset with a predisposition for integrity, innovation, and customer service.
- Actively perpetuate the reputation of Daniels Manufacturing Corporation as the crimp tool industry leader focused on the highest standards of design, quality, reliability, and customer service in the military and aerospace markets.
- Promote an environment where Engineering team members are considered highly valued technical experts as well as customer service enthusiasts focused on perpetual customer satisfaction.
- Display professionalism and genuine empathy while interacting with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing personnel to support production activities, disposition products, and analyze customer concerns.
- Exhibit fact-based confidence, structured technical vision, and respect for overall business strategy when communicating with senior management levels.
- Support the Engineering department’s synergistic role within the organization by assisting all other departments for the mutual benefit of the company.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or commensurate experience required
- Minimum 7 years in product engineering design and development role required
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated leadership of technical teams required
- Ability to learn, understand, and document the complex needs of the customer and to plan a successful project path based on that knowledge required
- Expert level technical experience in product design, testing, and implementation for manufacturing of tight tolerance machined parts and assemblies required (Experience in tool design preferred)
- Experience independently coordinating and directing Engineering project functions required
- Proven ability to analyze, solve, and explain problems with minimal or no direction within all facets of business environment required
- Experience in successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously within a dynamic manufacturing environment required
- Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with colleagues and all levels of management required
- Expert level experience with 3D CAD technologies (Autodesk Inventor preferred) including model-based definition MBD/ Model based enterprise (MBE) required
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills required
- Expert level experience with Finite Element Analysis/ Simulation software required (Autodesk Inventor Professional/Nastran Simulation preferred)
- Engineer In Training (EIT) Certificate required
- Experience leading continuous improvement projects using Lean/ Six Sigma methodologies preferred
- Experience working in an ISO 9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing environment preferred

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
