Sr. QA Analyst – Job Description

The Sr. Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst develops and executes exploratory and automated tests to ensure product quality.

Sr. QA Analyst responsibilities include creating and executing tests cases, notating defects including severity, impact and recommending corrective actions and retesting defect fixes. Review user stories and acceptance criteria for completeness and clarity. Track and report quality assurance metrics (e.g., defect by severity and impact, requirement coverage and open defect counts.) Identify and execute appropriate Functional, Integration and Regression testing and lend support through user acceptance training. Monitors all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards. Working collaboratively within on-shore and off-shore resources to complete all testing before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets requirements. Provide mentoring and guidance to more junior team members and make suggestions for QA process improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Validate the integrity of user stories and acceptance criteria and supporting documentation
• Review user stories and acceptance criteria, specifications and technical design documents and provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Work with business users to identify process and system improvements
• Create detailed and well-structured test plans and test cases
• Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
• Design, develop and execute automation scripts
• Develop and validate testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
• Peer Review and Develop test plans to ensure coverage of user stories and acceptance criteria
• Coordinate and support user acceptance testing
• Create and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
• Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., developers product owners and business analysts) to identify and clarify system requirements
• Monitor defect resolution results
• Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions
• Provide accurate quality metrics and offer suggestions for improvements
• Stay current with new testing tools and test strategies and mentor teams on application
• SQA will be required to develop test plans and monitoring metrics to ensure appropriate risk mitigation and release readiness.
• Monitors all stages of the STLC (Software Test Life Cycle) to identify and resolve gaps to meet quality standards.
• Mentor and conduct peer reviews to ensure the completion all test phases before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets

Job Qualifications:

• Experience applying QA principles and best practices in projects to increase the capabilities in teams.
• Experience in leading and directing test teams
• Proven work experience in software development
• Proven work experience in software quality assurance
• Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
• Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent, proven analytical skills
• Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing

• 5+ years’ experience in quality assurance role.
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
• Solid knowledge of SQL query and API scripting

Preferences:

• Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
• ISTQB or ASTQB Certification is ideal
• Mentoring and leadership experience
