Position Summary:

We have an immediate opening for a Sr. Robotics/Controls Engineer (Corporate) at our Pontiac, MI facility. Our Robotics/Controls Engineers are responsible for the following:

  • Launch
    • Develop robot launch documentation
    • Manage robot issues in launch phase
    • Robot audit lead
    • Robot technical consultant in design reviews
      • Provide RIA robot safety standards knowledge
      • Provide robot hardware and software capabilities expertise
  • Machine Standards
    • Document lessons learned in the field
    • Develop and submit verbiage to be added in machine standards
    • Enforce machine standards in launched programs
  • R & D
    • Maintain R&D lab robots
    • Continuously test Challenge standard equipment in all possible scenarios
    • Apply field lessons learned in lab robots
    • Develop robot related drawing sets to be used in launch
    • Distribute robot lab examples
    • Test new equipment that interacts with robots
      • To gain new functionality
      • To react on phased out equipment

Will require the ability to work with our robot suppliers to create robot orders for launch projects as well as for internal ordering of replacement parts and robots for the plant as needed. Will need to have ABB and Fanuc programming knowledge for point adjustments, loading of I/O, System loading, PLC programming to do troubleshooting between PLC and Robots, debugging of robot code both Fanuc and ABB,CI development for improving processes and R&D to work on new and improved processes for automation. Travel requirements up to 25%. Team player willing to work with others and be open to new ideas given by other team members. Kawasaki robot programming experience if possible but not required


Requirements:

7 years' experience with Fanuc and/or ABB (UAF a plus)

Firm knowledge of Industry standards NFPA/NEC and UL

AutoCAD experience

Must be a Self-Starter and work with minimal supervision

+ for PLC experience

Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
