Description
Leads development of advanced analytics solutions that can increase shareholder value. Interacts with leadership teams to evaluate, frame, prioritize and develop advanced analytics solutions based on machine learning/statistical techniques. Provides input based on advanced analytics experience to other Data Science team members working on highly complex problems.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Engage leadership and/or subject matter experts to understand business needs and find opportunities to apply advanced analytics methods to solve problems
- Lead high value projects that develop creative workflows to answer specific questions requiring different approaches to analysis of high-dimensional data
- Deliver training, knowledge sharing and participate in communicating the value of advanced analytics with a growing community of practitioners
- Adopt, improve and champion the advanced analytics assurance process to Bus and Functions – particularly as these techniques are applied to the subsurface
- Provide input on advanced analytics efforts underway among Data Science team based on prior experience
- Partner with data service teams in continuous improvement efforts, improving data quality and data access across the company
- Remain appraised of innovative analytics technology and data sources applicable to O&G industry
- Propose and participate in proof-of-concepts efforts for analytics technology and data sources applicable to O&G industry
- Apply advanced methods of conceptual modeling, statistical analysis, predictive modeling and optimization
- Ensure consistent application of data analytics methods to explore, analyze, visualize and model data when solving problems
- Collaborate in deploying systems that discover hidden insights/embedded patterns and enable business stakeholders to make more informed decisions
- Apply process optimization based on historical data
- Hypothesis testing: be able to develop hypothesis and test with careful experiments
- Invest in self-learning new techniques in the advanced analytics field and find innovative ways to apply when solving problems
- Partner with ConocoPhillips teams to deploy analytics/data-related initiatives
- Improve personal knowledge and performance to sustain and enhance professional development
Basic/Required:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or other quantitative discipline or foreign equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in applying data preparation, exploration, and visualization techniques within the oil-gas domain
- 3+ years of working experience in using statistics and analytical techniques in scientific experimentation
- 3+ years of experience applying machine learning algorithms to business problems
- 3+ years of experience applying deep learning and optimization techniques
- Intermediate proficiency in applying an analytical tool, such as Python or R etc. to solve business problems
- Intermediate proficiency with visualization tools such as SpotFire, Tableau, or MS PowerBI
- Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 10% of the time on a yearly basis
Preferred:
- Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Engineering, or other quantitative fields or foreign equivalent
- 5+ years of working experience in using statistics, analytical techniques in scientific experimentation
- 5+ years of experience applying deep learning and various optimization techniques
- 5+ years of experience with visualization tools such as SpotFire, Tableau, or MS PowerBI
- 3+ years of experience in working with analytic/big data platforms, such as Hadoop
- 3+ years of experience of traditional programming languages – C++, C#, Java etc
- 3+ years of experience in using cloud analytic services such as those offered by Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure platforms
- Advanced proficiency in applying an analytical tool, such as Python or R etc. to solve business problems
- Ability to analyze stakeholder needs, global, political, and market trends, and understand how they shape and impact our business results.
