Job description
Troy Medicare is looking for a Staff Accountant to perform and track day-to-day accounting activities. The Staff Accountant role will work directly with the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Responsibilities include establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information. This position is ideally suited for a CPA with a strong depth of experience in statutory and GAAP accounting and financial leadership in Medicare Advantage health plans.
Troy Medicare started in Concord, North Carolina when our founders saw so many people increasingly unable to afford their prescriptions. Big health insurance companies had become more expensive and less transparent in their pricing and benefits. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and easy-to-understand Medicare plan for every single member.
Responsibilities
- Month-end accounting close responsibilities including:
- Journal entry preparation for revenue, medical expenses, and operating expenses
- Accrual calculations utilizing source files, such as transaction data sets from vendors
- Reconciliation of general ledger balances to source files
- Financial Reporting
- Provide necessary support to CFO for monthly GAAP and SAP financials
- Provide statutory accounting firm quarterly deliverables for preparing quarterly SAP financials
- File completed SAP financials and other required supplemental filings with regulators
- Audit Support
- Responsible for providing external auditors supporting documentation to facilitate timely completion of annual audits
- Support regulatory financial compliance requests and audits under the direction of the CFO
- Accounts payable ownership including invoice and payment processing.
- Payroll processing in collaboration with human resources.
- Prepare various reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position
- NetSuite accounting system maintenance and internal controls.
- Formalize internal control documentation.
- Provide necessary supporting documentation to tax advisors for preparing tax returns.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience (required)
- B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- Health plan finance experience (strongly preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant certification (preferred)
- General ledger system experience (preferably with QuickBooks or NetSuite) (required)
Compensation
$70,000-90,000/year DOE based upon experience
