The Staff Accountant l is responsible for the new project setup and maintenance, resource planning, billing, and invoicing-related tasks for their respective departments. This collaborative role demands attention to detail and a sense of urgency. Training is provided in our Workday ERP system; this role is on-site at our Valley Forge campus and relies heavily on the day-to-day activities of a busy office setting. This is a position for someone who will be willing to learn and be able to communicate progress on every assignment. This is NOT a position to put on earphones and do work, you will only succeed if you can communicate effectively. If you are looking for a remote position, please do not apply.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Meet with the finance team to set daily priorities. Alert your supervisor if you think a critical deadline is in jeopardy.

Answer emails from various finance department accounts as well as your personal account within 24 hours of receipt. Return phone calls within 4 hours.

Update and review customer invoice details with each Project Manager. Support the finalization of the invoices and maintain open communication with the functional leaders.

Troubleshoot project financials- alert the PM of any errors and/or discrepancies.

Prioritizes tasks based on fluctuating needs/deadlines. You have competing internal and external customers- you respond promptly because you keep your schedule organized.

Understands and works within month-end/quarter-end deadlines.

Learn and navigate the special customer AP portals for invoice submission.( Aribba, ComplyWorks, Emperium)

Exercises safe work practices by following all safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.

Participates in our continuous improvement programs and provides support to team efforts.

Keeps up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.

Performs other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related degree from an accredited university.

0-3 years of experience with accounting principles related to the day-to-day workings of a project-based environment for a professional services organization.

Experience with Workday/Salesforce/Google Workspace, and SharePoint is a plus.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google, and/or PC programs.

Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management.

Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, solid organization and time/project management skills, and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities – you are a self-starter and motivated to deliver quality work.

You will define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.

The work environment will vary greatly depending on the nature of assigned tasks. You must be willing to travel as needed to other Montrose locations or client sites.

Possible work environments could include normal office working conditions in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Pay: $40,000 - $70,000- Offers will be commensurate with your qualifications and number of years of related experience. This is not a remote or hybrid role.
