JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
JOB SUMMARY: Support functions of St. Tammany Health System’s Corporate Compliance Department and serve as a legal resource to the System, its leadership team and Board of Commissioners. Conduct due diligence on System’s proposed business and other organizational transactions. Provide for System’s review, negotiation and completion of contracts, agreements, leases, joint ventures and other aspects of contract management; oversee and execute on the legal aspects of real estate and other business transactions including System’s employment agreements and service and support agreements as well as the supporting document management. Communicate critical information to System leadership when needed and in accordance with System policies and procedures. There is opportunity for remote work in this position as approved by direct manager.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited school of law plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a practicing corporate or transactional attorney is required; prior work experience in health care law and the operations and business matters of health care systems and/or JD-MBA is preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of law as relates to general corporate and transactional legal matters including real estate, commercial agreements, formation of legal entities and other corporate business and health systems matters. Prior experience in Louisiana law specific to hospital service districts and quasi-governmental entities is a plus.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Member in good standing with the Louisiana State Bar Association.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of state/federal laws relevant to transactions and Louisiana hospital service districts. Must possess strong organizational skills and an ability to work with executive leaders and attorneys on a variety of assignments. Expertise in conducting legal research, providing legal opinions and in analyzing facts and precedents. Must be able to work independently, set priorities, manage complex processes and maintain confidentiality. An analytical mind able to quickly assess large amounts of information and data and the ability to consider and evaluate the relationships between numerous factors. Personal credibility and an ability to articulate, communicate and negotiate positions and strategies concisely in a manner that is useful and easily understood. Professionalism, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility and determination. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 10 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
