DESCRIPTION
As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer at Verily, you will help design, develop and evangelize our chaos engineering best practices and tools to help Verily engineering teams to deliver resilient production systems within public cloud environments. You will work with software engineers, hardware engineers, data scientists to help them learn, adapt, and adopt our core production chaos engineering tools and best practices and help them meet our business continuity objectives. You will create and deliver documentation and training material to broadcast these capabilities to the broader engineering organization. As an expert in Cloud technologies, you will also help influence architecture and infrastructure decisions within the broader engineering organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help engineers adopt Verily’s core production management services and processes to improve overall end-to-end resiliency of Verily’s production systems.
- Develop and drive adoption of core chaos engineering best practices.
- Build and deliver training material for Verily engineering teams to help them measure and improve the resiliency, reliability, observability and scalability of their services.
- Develop and integrate chaos engineering tools within our cloud toolkit.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Practical experience and/or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, or Go).
- Experience working as an SRE and/or Chaos Engineer in a cloud environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Google Cloud technologies.
- Familiarity working with chaos engineering tools (eg Litmus, Chaos Monkey).
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing complex distributed systems in a public cloud environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure management in Terraform.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$276,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
