SECURITY GUARD

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas of the facility for our customers and employees.

SIGNIFICANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patrol buildings and grounds of the complex and other business units.
• Examine security of doors, windows, and gates, etc.
• Warn violators of rule infractions: loitering, smoking in unauthorized areas, parking violations.
• Watch for and report irregularities: fire hazards, leaking water pipes, security doors left unlocked, etc.
• Observe incoming and departing personnel to guard against theft or damage of company property.
• Sound alarms, call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Document property damage and/or unusual occurrences.
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Security Guard reports directly to the Store Manager.

Job Qualifications/Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and repetitive tasks.
• Ability to read and follow directions.
• Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with employees and guests.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety, security, hazardous materials/waste, emergency preparedness, life safety, equipment and utility systems.
• Participate in the company policies and procedures.
• Observe proper body mechanics and safety precautions in all job duties.
• Communicate information about incidents involving self, staff and/or visitors to appropriate parties, using facility incident reporting systems as appropriate.
• Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Previous security experience preferred
• CLEET certification preferred
• First aid and/or CPR certification strongly preferred.
• Specialized training in security procedures and tactics and/or military training preferred
• ASIS International membership and/or APP certification a plus.

Work environment/physical demands:

• Ability to speak, hear, see, write, and read English.
• Work weekends
• Lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
• This position requires no travel.

Pay: Up to $25.00 per hour
