POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing products or filling requisitions for supplies, materials, and equipment; performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Orders, receives, stores, and distributes materials, tools, supplies, and equipment;
  • Maintains detailed inventory records of all materials, supplies, and equipment;
  • Arranges materials and supplies in bins or on shelves for easy access and identification;
  • Investigates complaints concerning errors in items delivered or received;
  • Inspects supplies and materials received for possible damage and conformance to purchase specifications;
  • Operates forklift and other tools and equipment to transport supplies and equipment;
  • Packs materials for distribution to various locations;
  • Operates a computer to maintain inventory and access information concerning purchases and orders;
  • Orders materials, tools, routine replacement parts, equipment, and supplies to maintain prescribed inventory levels;
  • Maintains the reservation schedule for and documents the use of District vehicles by departmental staff;
  • Maintains records of tools and equipment assigned to maintenance trades technicians and other District staff;
  • Operates a motor vehicle to pick up or deliver parts, equipment and supplies;
  • May assist in loading or unloading trucks;
  • May assign and coordinate the work of warehouse staff in the receiving, stocking, storing, or filling of requisitions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of the twelfth school grade and three (3) years of experience receiving and handling or maintaining inventory. Substitution(s): A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) will be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma.

Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Tools/Equipment Use: Desktop PC with keyboard and mouse, laptop, scanner, calculator, software, desk, and adjustable chair.
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 10 pounds)
  • Environment: Works in office setting; may require occasional irregular hours and/or prolonged hours.
  • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
  • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.

The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be used to create a NEW, Open Competitive eligible list for this classification. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this position within the filing period indicated above and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. It is the responsibility of all applicants to provide a complete list of relevant work experience (previous and current) on the application. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of listed work experience. Unless otherwise indicated, any year of required experience is based on 12 months of full time employment. Anything below 35 hours/week (or seasonal work) will be prorated.

The examination process will consist of a multiple-choice exam covering Oral Comprehension, Information Ordering, Materials Handling, Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, and Problem Sensitivity; and a computerized exam covering Name and Number Comparison, Outlook and Excel.

The exam is expected to be administered in late June 2022. Approved applicants will be notified by email of their scheduled test date and time.

Candidates must bring a valid driver's license to the test.

All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and may include a pre-employment drug test.

The certification process will be the top 10 candidates on the eligible list, or top 25% of the list, whichever is greater, based on overall test score.
