The Street Maintenance Technician or Specialist positions involve the operation of small to large equipment and tools to perform manual labor, semiskilled to skilled work associated with street and storm drainage maintenance and to accomplish other municipal work as assigned.

The Street Maintenance Specialist is distinguished from the Technician by the level of experience, qualifications, equipment operated, and the responsibility for directing the work of others.
