Kleinfelder is looking to add a Structural Engineer to join our Ohio Area Structural Department in Bowling Green, OH!
We are looking for candidate who can thrive and learn in a team-oriented workplace. The ideal candidate can work independently and as part of a team to relentlessly pursue excellence in structural, and full, building design. The Ohio Area Structural Department offers a wide range of challenging project work and a great opportunity to learn and develop professionally. This position will offer a flexible work schedule and reporting location and allows for limited work from home opportunities along with office days, otherwise known as a “hybrid work schedule.”
Required Experience:
  • 3-6 years' experience in structural engineering associated with industrial facilities and commercial buildings,
  • EIT with at least 2 years of structural engineering experience,
  • or, recent PE (Ohio) licensure in the civil-structural discipline
  • Experience using Revit 2020 or newer for structural design and detailing,
  • strong verbal and written communication skills,
  • the ability to organize priorities and multi-task effectively, and
  • a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment, and
  • a can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential, and
  • a strong commitment for accountability to project quality and schedule.
Education:
ABET-Accredited (EAC or TAC) Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering Technology
Preferred Skills/Experience:
The candidate should have the ability to readily learn, the fundamentals of the design of buildings and foundations. Building design experience in steel (gravity and lateral seismic) is desirable. Wastewater and water treatment plant tank and structure design in concrete is desirable. Additional skills include the:
  • ability to use Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Outlook, and Teams to effectively communicate with internal and external clients,
  • proven experience interpreting building codes and structural engineering codes such ASCE 7-16, AISC 360, ACI 318, and others
  • experience using RISA 3D (or other finite element structural analysis programs)
  • ability to adhere to organizational standards for quality and performance
  • ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • ability to independently prepare structural calculations for review by the Senior Structural Engineer,
  • experience in AutoCAD on top of Revit experience is desirable,
  • ability to assist in reviewing/checking calculations prepared by others
  • ability to draft plans and details using Revit and/or AutoCAD
  • ability to prepare meeting minutes
  • ability to review and process RFIs
  • ability to review and process Submittals and Shop Drawings
  • ability to assist in performing field observation and field measurements to record existing conditions,
  • ability to work collaboratively with other design disciplines (Site/Civil, Architecture, MEP) to coordinate the structure with the overall design,
  • ability to work safe and adhere to the Kleinfelder safety program requirements,
  • willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, willingness to climb, work at heights, over water, and other austere conditions for inspections and/or observations.
