Welder Helper - Value Aiding Operator
The Welder Helper - Value Aiding Operator is responsible for supporting the welding team by ensuring that they have all necessary tools and equipment to maintain a high level of productivity. The operator must also assist with the welding process as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain an adequate supply of welding wire, ensuring that there are always two reels in the staging location.
- Inspect tips and nozzles on the welding lead, replacing them as needed.
- Ensure that all other tools are available and in good working condition, including grinders, needle scalers, air hoses, gougers, scrapers, and flipper bars.
- Monitor availability of consumables, such as grinding discs and gouging rods.
- Populate the weld report per piece, creating one report per team.
- Signal the forklift operator (yellow) and quality control personnel (green) via the cone system.
- Unload completed parts and load new parts onto the unmanned sawhorse(s), rotating to unmanned sawhorses as necessary.
- Prepare new parts for welding by using a needle scaler, grinder, and tacking AK-307 clips when needed. Notify the Weld Supervisor when replenishment is needed.
- Ensure completed parts are not blocking load access and signal the forklift operator when needed.
- Set up the next shift for success by ensuring that all parts are fully prepped and ready to weld.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing or welding environment preferred.
- Knowledge of welding processes, equipment, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- The Welder Helper - Value Aiding Operator will work in a manufacturing or welding environment.
- The operator may be required to work in hot, noisy, or dusty conditions.
- The operator may be required to work in confined spaces and at heights.
- The operator may be required to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes.
