Unlimited Telecom Inc an industry-leading design-build contractor, specializing in low voltage structured cabling systems seeking an exceptionally talented and motivated Project Manager/Estimator to take the reigns of our Department to modernize our approach and achieve greater accuracy. . Immediate focus on Division 27/28 - Structured Cabling (copper/fiber), Audio Visual, IP Video and Wireless System, Access Control, Intrusion

Responsible for overseeing the design and bid procedures for high performance telecommunication infrastructure systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The right person for this position will estimate and project manage low voltage and structured cabling projects; they will attend pre-construction conferences. The candidate is directly responsible for submitting quotes & manage K-12 & High Education, Government, Private, Public Works, Commercial, Healthcare, Public venues, Hospitality, High Rises The qualified individual is responsible for working with general contractors. Telecom / Data Center Estimating, 5-7 years (Preferred)

  • Project Management, 5-7 years (Preferred)
  • Are you familiar with Division 27 - 28 requirements
  • Can you read and update blueprints, riser diagrams, backbone diagrams, TR and Rack Layouts?

Experience as a Systems/Data Project Manager on hard bid and design build large projects. Includes overseeing the design, installation and implementation of Information Technology Low Voltage Systems. Typical systems are; Paging, Intercom, Security, CATV, Access Control, CCTV, Local Area Network, Wireless, Audio/Visual, Dynamic Displays, Telephone, and Fiber optics.

  • 1-plus years’ experience estimating Structured Cabling and Low Voltage Systems.

  • Depth of knowledge with a wide variety of cabling materials and methods of installation.
  • Read and understand civil, architectural, structural, MEP, and Telecommunications plans and specifications (Division 27000 and 28000) as they relate to the structured cabling work.

In order to fulfill job requirements candidate must have detailed knowledge and practical understanding of low voltage and structured cabling infrastructure design, reading and interpretation of elevation drawings and data center design drawings, a strong knowledge of fiber and copper management systems, i.e. Ladder Rack & Fiber Trays, strong understanding of Data Center Cabinet and Rack installations.

Adept in deciphering customer drawings, create takeoffs.

This position includes responsibilities to create and/or develop low voltage structured cabling quotations, documentation of IT, Datacom, Audio Visual, Security, low voltage and physical layer infrastructure as well as managing projects of similar magnitude

  • The Project Manager will recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline and discharge, if necessary, all project related staff. Effectively manage all human resource issues (and escalate as needed) per Company policies and procedures. Complete recommendations for project related employees’ performance ratings. Provide guidance and mentoring to meet all customer and Company goals and objectives.
  • The Project Manager will manage the workload distribution and monitor the customer delivery and job installation progress.
  • The Project Manager will plan for, manage, monitor and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals.
  • The Project Manager reviews all job cost postings for accuracy and completeness, including but not limited to, the preparation of invoices, customer collections and periodic financial reporting to the customer and management.
  • The Project Manager will manage all related quality and safety issues on customer work.
  • The Project Manager will participate in and/or facilitate the bid process.
  • The Project Manager acts as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • The Project Manager will create, develop and implement account process improvement(s).

  • Develop timely and competitive estimates, correlating to Scope of Work proposals for our clients.
  • Perform site visits for documentation and cost estimating of the existing systems and building conditions.
  • Develop Bill of Materials and obtain pricing to provide creative cabling solutions to win work in competitive environments.
  • Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
  • Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
  • Layout and design telecommunications systems, as well as, Voice, Data, Security, Structured Cabling (Horizontal and Vertical) and other Low Voltage systems.
  • Acquire project documents, perform take-offs, review specs, estimate materials and labor needed.
  • Price materials with vendors, secure pricing from sub-contractors when needed, and prepare a complete estimate and scope of work using our estimating software.
  • Assist in project deployment post-award in cooperation with the operations department.
  • Work with the client, architect/engineer, and others on pre-construction meetings in support of the project manager if required.
  • Read and update blueprints, riser diagrams, backbone diagrams, TR and Rack Layouts
  • Knowledgeable in the handling of CAT 5E, CAT 6 and CAT6A cable, termination of jacks, 66, 110 Blocks and 110 Patch Panels.
  • Experience in Auto CAD
  • Layout and build out of communication rooms and closets.
  • Knowledgeable in types of Single Mode and Multimide Fiber Optics cable and Connectors. Knowledge of Fusion Splicing.

  • Ability to manage material including obtaining quotes from various suppliers, getting material set up at (Will Call) for pick up or delivery to the job-site and tracking material usage.
  • Ability to understand job margins including cost, mark-up. re-sell and tax.
  • Ability to interpret understand and draft project scope letters.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Determines type and quantity of materials to be installed.
  • Inspects customer premises to ascertain location and space available for installation of materials.
  • Prepares cost estimate for materials and installation and submits data to executive management for authorization.
  • Orders materials, prepares installation specifications, and monitors progress of installation to ensure facilities are ready on specified date.
  • Specifies environmental conditions required for cabling and installation of materials.
  • Coordinates with other subcontractors in project implementation timelines.
  • Specifies cable types, number of pairs, types of modular jacks, cross connects, hubs, intermediate distribution frames, and equipment racks.
  • Creates cable plant diagrams and cable records designating and referencing all cables with their respective floor locations.
  • Prepares floor plans of equipment arrangement for customer or architect approval.
  • Maintains up-to-date records of cable systems, equipment inventory, spares, and floor plans.
  • Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment needs or system enhancements.
  • Visits vendors and attends training to learn about available products, enhancements, and services.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $83,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
