Hourly pay:

• Nurse - $40 an hour
• Overnight Bonus - $75 per night

The Adult Weekend Retreat is a 3-day/2-night overnight camp experience for all adults with Down syndrome, ages 18 and above. The Retreats occur two times per year at YMCA Camp Thunderbird on Lake Wylie in South Carolina. Adult participants will focus on increasing self-confidence and independence through individual, small group and large activities and vocational projects throughout the weekend.

The adults will also have the opportunity to participate in camp activities like Canoeing, Kayaking, Hiking, Fishing, Ziplining, Team Building, Rope Courses, Slip ‘N Slide, a Dress-Up Dance, and a Campfire with S’mores.

As a camp nurse, responsibilities will include:

· Remain on-site for the entire weekend, including overnights, and be available for consultation with the Program Director and camp counselors

· Check in medication upon arrival and set up dosage schedule

· Administer medication to campers as needed

· Be familiar with camp policies pertaining to health care and medication administration and implement fully all procedures and requirements.

· Serve as a liaison between the program director and camp counselors and advanced medical personnel when necessary. Communicate directly with campers’ families as requested by program director

· Monitor/evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and suggest modifications that would create more healthful conditions at camp.

· Perform all other duties as requested.

The camp nurse will sleep in a separate cabin from campers and counselors with private shower and bathroom facilities. The camp nurse will not be required to participate in camp activities, but it would be highly desirable if the nurse is willing to encourage and engage with the campers.

Camp Counselor requirements:

• 18+ years of age
• RN License (Required)
• CPR Certification (Required)
• Physical exam complete within 1 year of camp start date
• Up-to-date vaccination status (Covid not required) in line with public school requirements
• TB test complete within two years
• Experience working with individuals with special needs desirable
• Experience working in a camp setting desirable
