OUTPATIENT SURGICAL SCRUB TECH
Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center is a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) equipped with the latest and most advanced technology in ophthalmic surgery. Its capabilities include retina surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, refractive surgery and oculoplastic surgery. This 10,000 square foot, state of the art facility, offers a full staff of specialty trained Nurses (RNs), certified technicians and Board-Certified Anesthesiologists. With specialized operating rooms (ORs), laser procedure rooms and comfortable preoperative and post-operative areas, Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center provides quality care in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Position Summary
Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center has a rewarding opportunity for a Surgical Scrub Technician to join our team. The Surgical Scrub technician is responsible for assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in the care of patients for a busy ambulatory surgery center specializing in ophthalmic surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Utilize a variety of surgical equipment and instrumentation properly.
- Maintain knowledge and practice of aseptic techniques.
- Assist the circulating nurse in the preparation of surgical procedure and during turnovers between procedures.
- Prepare sterile field for surgical procedures, insuring proper instruments and supplies are available for use.
- Anticipate surgeons needs during the surgical procedure and passing of instruments and supplies.
- Obtain counts with the circulating nurse.
- Maintain proper care of equipment, instruments, and supplies when procedure is finished.
- Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation.
- Maintain standards by participating in the in-services.
Requirements
- High School / GED required.
- 1-year surgical scrub experience required.
- Compute knowledge including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, surgeons and staff.
