Join our Operating Room team as a Surgical Technologist in a Level I Trauma Center! The Surgical Technologist functions as an active member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person. This includes assisting the Circulator with the preparation of the O.R. suite by reviewing the preference card for the appropriate supplies, assists with the gathering of equipment and instrumentation, practices department procedures for hand scrub, gowning and gloving, accurately prepares drugs under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Circulator, sets up sterile instruments, suture and all sterile supplies and maintains sterile field of instruments and supplies during procedures. The Surgical Technologist anticipates and communicates the surgeon’s needs and has instruments & supplies readily available for use.

Work Schedule:

This is a .8 night shift (72 hours/2 week pay period). Shifts will be Tuesday - Friday 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Call and holiday rotations expected, per seniority.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of a surgical technologist training program
• Completion of national certification exam offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or completion within 6 months hire. Certification must be maintained during length of employment.
• CPR certification required at time of employment and every two years thereafter

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to interpret colorimetric determinations.
• Demonstrates the ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities of routine principles and practices
• Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization techniques
• Knowledge of surgical instruments procedures and related supplies
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and microbiology
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Knowledge of patient legal rights
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers and have knowledge of patient’s rights

Compensation:

Rate of pay is determined by hours of experience. The pay range is $31.30 - $42.58 an hour.
