JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Bridge previously known as the Academic Research Department is seeking strong trouble-shooters with an interest in survey research to assist with the National Social Life Health and Aging Project. This will be an intermittent role, requiring at least 20-23 hours of availability per week.

The Bridge previously known as The Academic Research Centers (ARC) is a community of researchers and programs covering a variety of substantive domains and exemplifying NORC’s commitment to the highest standards of academic excellence and research innovation. The ARC brings substantive expertise and collaborative infrastructure to theoretically driven and multimodal research. The ARC collaborates with multi-disciplinary research from the University of Chicago and other research institutions by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data; providing methodological and statistical expertise; and facilitating pre- and post-award management. ARC’s research staff collaborates jointly with social scientists, physicians, and other experts in an open, cooperative working environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Perform statistical analyses of primary and secondary data
  • Support data collection activities, such as preparation of memos, tables, and graphs
  • Document survey instruments
  • Perform administrative tasks

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Some college level courses or other postsecondary academic experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, critical reasoning, and writing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Sharp attention to detail and robust organization skills.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in email, in person, over videoconference, and on the telephone
  • Experience with online research, efficiently assessing and analyzing the resulting information.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, both independently and in project teams.
  • Ability to work with disparate documents and data sources, synthesizing materials.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office software.
  • Professional proficiency in a second language is highly desirable, based on survey population demographics.
