Join the core team of strategic leaders on sustainable products and packaging to put your deep sustainable materials knowledge into play in a commercial setting.

Core Responsibilities

You will translate thought leadership into clear direction for how the LEGO Group should work with sustainable materials in our products. Other core responsibilities include:

  • Deliver concrete company positions, environmental performance assessments (e.g. LCAs), and criteria/guidelines for materials or technologies based on scientific insights and data
  • Collaborate closely with key partners (e.g. the LEGO Group’s Sustainable Materials Program, Procurement, and the Materials Department) to embed the strategic direction

Environmental Responsibility (ER) is a globally based team of functional experts and leaders, seeking to build real impact both inside and outside the LEGO Group. We are responsible for ensuring the LEGO Group fulfils its Planet Promise’ by achieving the highest possible environmental performance through a commercial logic. Demonstrating commercial advantage and driving innovation across the business, we address the entire value chain from the impact of raw materials through manufacture of products, distribution, use, and onto eventual reuse or recycling.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, materials, sustainability subject or natural sciences.
  • And/or Master degree in natural sciences or sustainability field
  • Deep functional knowledge and environmental working experience with sustainability for materials and technologies - plastic and/or advanced recycling technologies preferred
  • Proven strategic approach and ability to put sustainability into a commercial/corporate context
  • Strong communicator and “change agent” approach; i.e. can communicate technical matters to all levels of the organization and successfully get very different partners on board
  • Environmental professional (+5 years of proven experience) in international, large-scale corporate environment or with good consultancy experience.
  • Preferably experience with Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), ISO 14000 standards, Product environmental footprint (PEF) and how to apply LCA as a tool in sustainable materials development.
  • Knowledge of materials and have good technical understanding and analytical skills to break down environmental issues.
  • Ability to see beyond the details and provide strategic direction on product and technologies and environmental footprint
  • Experience applying the circular economy approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive nature in building partner network.
  • Strong teammate with an eye for the greater common goal
