(CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING AVAILABILITY AND PROGRAMMATIC APPROVAL; this position is subject to budget approval and availability and may be withdrawn at any time)
POSITION:
Teachers to teach Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) preparation in Math and ELA to seventh graders. Position and program are budget dependent. (Up to 10 positions)

LOCATION:
Remote
Mid-week pre-service training can be done remotely.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Open to licensed NYCDOE grades 6-12 full-time Mathematics, English, Science or Social Studies teachers. (Grades 6-12 Mathematics or English teachers preferred)
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, stimulate and challenge all students to achieve a high level of performance through rigorous academic standards and experience with modifying curriculum to meet the needs of your students 2. Demonstrated dedication to equity, making sure that all students receive the support they need to achieve
- An understanding of, and sensitivity to, the complex emotional, social, and academic needs of middle school students
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Knowledge of test-taking skills and strategies with previous satisfactory experience preparing students for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT), PSAT, SATs and/or other advanced level tests, preferred
- Knowledge of, and experience using, quality instructional practices, including using digital platforms and resources for engaging instruction.
- Knowledge of culturally responsive – sustaining education
- Previous satisfactory experience teaching advanced level classes on the middle school, junior high school or high school level preferred as well as a documented record of excellent attendance and punctuality
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement a new curriculum to build students’ capacity in speed work related to the SHSAT and oversee project-based learning for more complex topics on the SHSAT, as well as a test preparation curriculum that combines SHSAT-specific test taking strategies with rigorous content,
- Implement community building, socio-emotional and culturally responsive related activities.
- Analyze student work and SHSAT practice results to plan engaging, differentiated lessons that lead to student academic growth
- Confer with District Administration and others in matters pertaining to instruction, students, and family support
- Prepare progress reports for each student and maintain accurate student records, including attendance
- Attend pre-program professional learning, as scheduled
WORK SCHEDULE:
Eight Sessions in total from Saturday May 13, 2023 to Wednesday, June 14, 2023:
- Three (3) Saturday sessions - Instructional Hours: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
- Five (5) Wednesday sessions – Instructional Hours 3:30 – 6:30

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
SALARY:
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
