Job description
Primary Function:
Will operate in a team environment to provide skilled/professional consultation, career advising and guidance, planning and implementation, resources, programs and information that will enable students to develop a fully integrated career plan. This will be accomplished in such a way that students are aware of career options available to them to reach their post-secondary goals.

Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate and assist with transitional 8th to 9th grade activities, orientations, advisement, and parent
- Coordinate and assist with middle school activities such as parent information sessions, student career days, career advisement and ICAP implementation.
- In coordination with the high school counselors and teachers, develop and communicate a comprehensive plan of study for students. In developing the plan of student, any assessment and the student’s career interests will be discussed.
- Provide instruction, orientation and counseling for students with career development
- Serve as a school liaison with Francis Tuttle Career Tech, local colleges and universities and with the feeder middle schools and elementary schools, communicating frequently with the Francis Tuttle Career Readiness Team and Career Advisors.
- Participate with any in-school committees (as assigned) to enhance career services
- Prepare and maintain statistical and other reports for internal and external constituencies, including data required to validate efficacy of the position for the Carl Perkins Grant.
- Maintain records of all activities and verify populations
- Serve on Career Tech advisory boards, as
- Disseminate program and career-related student assessment and other career-related resource information to students/parents in partnership with the Western Heights ICAP specialist.
- Assist with ICAP instruction and planning for Western Heights
- Organize tours of Francis Tuttle Technology Center programs/academies. Assist counselors in providing necessary information and facilitation enrollment of students.
- Serve as point of contact for special programs/activities with career focus; e. career fairs, career workshops, non-traditional career activities, internships, job shadowing, etc.
- Coordinate student recruiting for information and enrollment, assisting Francis Tuttle staff with high school interviews.
- Coordinates testing programs, as assigned.
- Connects students to participate in school and community
- As a member of the counseling staff, assist with the administration, interpretation, and dissemination of student results for any career interest inventories.
- Attend relevant career counselor professional development as requested, including the Career Tech Annual Conference during the first week of August.
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings with Francis Tuttle Technology Center Career Planning Center, including the Fall and Spring Counselor Breakfast Meetings.

- Monitor student progress for students enrolled in Francis
- Maintain awareness of programs and certification offered at Francis
- Assist in the organization of a College/Career Fair for Western Heights
- Ability to be present on the job as described under working conditions and contract
- Other duties as assigned by building
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Valid Oklahoma Teaching certificate required
- Master’s degree with secondary counseling certification required
- Minimum of three years of successful experience in teaching and counseling required
- Experience in career and technology education preferred
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and direction
- Ability and desire to maintain/manage an efficient, well-organized office area
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced work environment by prioritizing tasks and projects
- Ability to understand and meet critical deadlines
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong written communication demonstrated in both letter and email
- Proficiency all Microsoft Office components (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects
- Strong flexibility, time management, and organizational skills are required
- Anticipate needs, be resourceful and have the ability to build strong employee partnerships within the organization.
- Ability to consistently deliver superior customers service and work quality to internal and external customers.

Working Conditions:
Moderate physical and concentrated visual effort is required. Extensive communication with students, families and colleagues. Reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. This is not an exhaustive list and reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
Organizational Relationship:
Full-time, exempt personnel position reports directly to the XXX. Will work with the Western Heights high school administration and counseling department. Office location will be at Western Heights High School. Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Western Heights Public Schools Board’s policy.
Contract Details:
Ten month contract for Western Heights (August – May) subject to annual renewal. Working days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8-4. Some evening and after hour events will be required throughout the year.
