Position Summary:
System Director of Environment of Care is accountable for leading in planning, managing, organizing, monitoring plant operations, security, environmental services, and food and nutrition services in congruence with policies, budgets, objectives and strategic priorities of the health system. Accountable for pursuing, managing, and evaluating the purchased services, service agreements, and contracts associated within their areas of responsibility. Monitors overall operational performance and partners with leaders to improve and innovate. Responsible for knowing, proactively assessing, and enforcing requirements as defined by regulatory agencies, including but not limited to current accrediting bodies, CMS, OSHA, CDC, FDA, NFPA, and other state and federal codes. Accountable for establishing reliable management programs and processes that foster an infrastructure that is secure, healthy, clean, and maintained to reduce risk, prevent infection, and promote sustainability during disturbances or challenges. Leads the Environment of Care Committee by evaluating, designing and improving all Environment of Care Management plans, engaging system stakeholders in the design of and carrying-out of those plans, and by monitoring key metrics and establishing key performance indicators to achieve results that demonstrate strong performance. Rounds throughout all areas of responsibility to perform quality and maintenance checks and advises on technical and operational improvements to assure a safe, highly functioning environment of care. Establishes strong communication channels to flexibly coordinate effective operations that support day-to-day care delivery and meet the mission of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in construction/business management, or construction engineering technology, or mechanical, civil, electrical engineering, or another related field ; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience in plant operations and environmental services management in a healthcare organization
  • Preferred: CAD or other drafting software expertise in tracking and reviewing building/suite design
  • Preferred: Boiler license or eligible for boiler license
Essential Job Functions:
  • Directs broad operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services in compliance with all regulatory agencies and healthcare system requirements.
  • Ensures a collaborative approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies, which reflect the mission of the organization.
  • Coordinates and oversees the organization-wide departmental services. Continuously assesses, measures and improves operational performance.
  • Demonstrates responsible leadership of all departmental resources to include purchased services.
  • Demonstrates clinical/technical and leadership competency. Ensures staff professional needs are met.
  • Leads, teaches, inspires, helps and consistently demonstrates professional and ethical business conduct.
