Job description
In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract in the near future, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a System Engineer to boost HLS and other programs as part of a diverse team that develops lunar landers, other cislunar spacecraft, and a wide range of critical technologies for civil, military, and commercial space programs.
The Spacecraft Bus Systems Engineer in this role will aid in the development and integration of aerospace structures and systems related to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and commercial space customers. Primary duties will include development and evaluation of system level needs, performance of trade studies, system design, system scrutiny, and verification.
The Spacecraft Bus Systems Engineer promotes the Spacecraft Bus Principal Systems Engineer. The Spacecraft Bus Systems Engineer conducts requisite study, system scrutiny including trade studies, system integration, and system verification and validation of large, human-rated spacecraft lander busses. The Systems Engineer plans and conducts technical system assessments, coordinates system natural and induced environment study, coordinates system risks with risk management, coordinates system changes with configuration management, and coordinates system data accessibility with data management. Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models of the needs, system functions, risks, and verifications are developed and maintained. The Systems Engineer coordinates and integrates across multiple engineering, scheduling, and business teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in system engineering, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or electrical engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institute.
- Candidates will have 12+ years of related relevant work history in system engineering or systems scrutiny.
- Candidates will have work history conveying within a team environment and have history mentoring & guiding team members.
Candidates will be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Other Qualifications
Preferred candidates may possess master’s degrees in system engineering, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, or electrical engineering or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institute with 2+ of relevant work. Preferred candidates may have a background and/or working knowledge of the following:
- NASA, DoD, or commercial space industry in requirements development, system study, or verification
- Space flight hardware
- Large-scale, human-rated space flight development
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) system model development and application.
