We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer in our Ground Control Station (GCS) group located in Poway, CA. This position will support sustainment and new development efforts for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle Universal Ground Control Station (UGCS).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Working closely with the Engineering Field Services (EFS) group, this position will lead investigations of reported field issues and oversee various groups supporting the investigations with the goal of determining root cause and corrective actions for these issues.
- Working closely with the Army customer, this position will manage and execute efforts pertaining to UGCS parts obsolescence. This includes collaborating with other functional groups to perform trade studies and using the results to recommend parts replacement and appropriate courses of actions.
- This position will lead hardware and software design improvements for the UGCS that will result in Army-wide modifications and retrofitting efforts.
- Obtain in-depth subject matter expert (SME) knowledge of all UGCS technical areas to include but not limited to Command and Control, Mission Planning, and Product Dissemination.
- Work closely with lab technicians, test engineers, and software engineers to develop and author regression test procedures, software installation procedures, and configuration procedures.
- Develop basis of estimates for GCS engineering efforts in support of development contracts.
- Work closely with the functional teams to ensure development meets design requirements
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
- This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, seven or more years of experience with a master’s degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a solid understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory in their respective field; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Must have good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
- Have a desire to work in a fast-paced development and testing environment.
- Must be able to work extended hours and/or travel if required to complete the assigned task.
