As a Systems Architect, you are involved in all aspects of engineering throughout the product development lifecycle. You’ll be responsible for the conduct of the diverse Engineering team assigned to the SCES IPT consisting of engineers from the software development, electrical and radio frequency, mechanical design, and other engineering disciplines in all aspects of product development. You will be directly responsible to support capability development by providing the broader technology and architectural view of the solution. You will collaborate closely with customer stakeholders, IPT members (Product Manager, Release Train Engineer, Manufacturing and Sales representatives, etc.), suppliers, and third-party stakeholders in defining the technology infrastructure, decomposing solutions, and systems into components and subsystems, and defining and managing their interfaces and APIs. You will operate with a customer-centric mindset that ensures that the needs of the users are first and foremost when making architectural choices. You foster a culture of empowerment and trust within the IPT that leads the IPT to make the local design decisions that adapt to changing needs while operating within the boundaries as defined within the Product Charter. You will embrace the leadership role and act as a change agent to inspire the developers to greater agility and effectiveness. You will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties required to supervise, manage, train, and mentor subordinate software engineers assigned to the SCES team. You are also responsible for identifying needs, opportunities, issues, and risks to IPT and Engineering Department leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Define and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision for the IPT to help ensure the system or solution under development fits for its intended purpose

• Advocate appropriate design guidelines
• Define subsystems and their interfaces, allocate responsibilities to subsystems, understand solution deployment, and communicate requirements for interactions within solution context
• Manage a cross functional engineering team that is core to the IPT under the strategic guidance of the project manager and within the cadence set by the Release Train Engineer to meet IPT performance, cost and schedule objectives
• Design and implement short and long-term strategic goals for managing and maintaining system hardware and software
• Work with IPT stakeholders to establish high-level solution intent and documentation requirements
• Operate within an economic framework when analyzing the impact of design decisions. Work with IPT stakeholders to realize the implementation of enabler epics
• Participate in Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospectives, System and Solution Demos, and test events
• Alongside the Product Manager and Release Train Engineer, plan and develop the Architectural roadmap in support of new business features and capabilities
• Make sure that all planned and in-place system architectures are aligned with the Company’s goals

REQUIREMENTS

• 10+ years of experience in product development as either a hardware or software engineer
• Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineer or similar field of study
• Strong familiarity with Software Defined Radio and associated applications.
• Familiarity with Agile teams in the context of product development
• Familiarity with task management tools such as Jira and knowledge management tools such as SharePoint
• Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Candidates must be eligible to obtain a security clearance when sponsored by QRC.

• Certified Scrum Master training
