NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs


If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range


  • Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like


We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support Configuration Management activities in the Design Management organization. In this position, you will work with one of the Center’s exciting Hypersonics programs to ensure they meet configuration management requirements and objectives. This candidate will work with computer applications (Windchill/PDMLink and ARAS) to meet configuration management objectives including engineering data architectures, change control processing, and technical data package reporting and objectives.

On any given day, you may be asked to:

  • Assist the team in defining policies to establish a consistent configuration management framework
  • Partner to understand and provide solutions to configuration management challenges
  • Help develop and provide training on tools and processes as needed. Communicate training material to ensure understanding of CM principles and associated tools
  • Author and supply documentation of processes and tools developed by the team.
  • Support technical teams to define and manage product configuration to ensure understanding of the as designed and as built configuration
  • Support Product Transition of designs to Industry Partners/Production Agencies

This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Project Management, Data Science, Accounting or relevant field; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Demonstrated experience in PDMLink, ARAS and/or other equivalent configuration management IT applications
  • Experience working with technical engineering teams to meet project objectives in one of the following: support of configuration management, requirements management, quality management, supply chain management, project management, and/or product lifecycle management
  • Active DOE L Security Clearance (or DOD equivalent) with ability to obtain Q Clearance

Qualifications We Desire

  • Knowledge of the product and/or software development lifecycle (e.g. Systems Engineering V-Model, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.)
  • CMII, ISO, PMBOK, INCOSE, Scrum/Agile, ASPE, APICS certifications
  • Experience with MCAD, ECAD, and/or ERP systems (e.g. CREO, Solidworks, Mentor Graphics, PDMLink, Team Center, Oracle Mfg., ARAS Innovator, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, positive individual comfortable working in an often ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Possess a strong dedication to positive teaming dynamic, strong written and verbal skills, detail oriented with a keen focus on customer service
  • Experience in Hypersonics, Nuclear Deterrence, Aerospace, or other weapon product realization environments

About Our Team


We are a part of the Product Transition Department. This Department provides industry partner support for the Hypersonic Programs in the Strike Systems group within the Integrated Military Systems Program at Sandia. Organization coordinates the development of Mechanical, Electrical, and Avionics flight technologies to be integrated and tested with industry partner support to provide flight solutions for missiles and hypersonic flight platforms. Typically, these systems support the DOD including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other Agencies.

This center has successfully developed hypersonic systems for the nation and is extending our role on the national stage for both developmental and fieldable systems. Our programs cover a broad spectrum of applications, from advanced aerodynamically controlled vehicles, maneuvering hypersonic kill vehicles, and ballistic missile systems. All activities require the extensive use of commonly developed Sandia avionics as well as prototype next generation technology that has never been flown. Levering existing technologies and maturing the Hypersonics portfolio for national needs is a demanding task and is a key component of Exceptional Service in the National Interest. The department strives to provide leadership to the laboratory and the nation in the creative development, use, and application of Hypersonic flight platforms.

Security Clearance


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) L security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
