YOUR ROLE
The Senior Tax Accountant assists the Federal Tax Manager with the responsibility of ensuring the timely filing of the Corporation’s U.S. federal consolidated return and all related statements, elections, and disclosures. The Senior Tax Accountant will support tax planning, the tax provision process, provide research of tax related issues, manage special projects as assigned, maintain audit documentation and track tax attributes.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Assist in the ongoing analysis of US federal and international tax compliance, including research and documentation of tax nexus and permanent establishment.
- Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual direct tax returns for Company's US and international operations.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining the quarterly and annual income tax provision, including all related tax disclosures.
- Coordinate with advisors on the preparation of various federal, and international income tax returns
- Perform technical tax research and analysis for special projects and initiatives
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to research and interpret various tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and international law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to analyze and document complex tax issues
- Ability to successfully interact and collaborate across the organization to deliver results
- Identify process improvements for compliance and provision work implementing changes where efficiencies can be gained
- Stay abreast of revisions to federal and international tax laws and other authority, bringing applicable items to management’s attention as well as business unit personnel
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Accounting or Finance required
- Masters of Tax, or Masters of Accounting, or JD preferred
- Minimum 4 years of solid U.S. federal income tax experience required
- Minimum 4 years of public accounting or equivalent corporate experience
- Provision experience with U.S. GAAP, specifically under ASC 740 - calculating deferred income taxes; knowledge of IFRS principles is a plus.
Certifications and Licenses
- Candidate, C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant), or EA preferred but not required
Languages and Communication Skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds
- Ability to write reports and use business correspondence to effectively present information in response to questions from management
Computer Skills
- Ability to learn new software, ERP, and tax systems fast
- Proficient in use of RIA Checkpoint, OneSource Income Tax, and JD Edwards ERP system
