This part-time position oversees the backstage operations of assigned performances and events held at the Grunin Center and in ancillary locations at Ocean County College. This position also provides assistance to designated theater administrators by supporting production and technical operations and activities; helping to train technical crew members and working as a part of the technical crew member on assigned shows.

Staff Duration: Part Time 12 months

1. Oversees the backstage operations of assigned performances/events on the Main Stage, in the Black Box Theater, in the Repertory Theater, and other auxiliary locations on campus as assigned by the immediate manager and designated administrators.

2. Provides assistance with the training and mentoring of temporary technical crew workers.

3. Works as part of the technical crew on assigned shows, as needed.

4. Serves as the main technical representative for the College's Repertory Theater, the Grunin Performing Arts Academy, Teen Arts, rental events and other events as assigned

5. In conjunction with other technical staff, monitors the condition of equipment in the College Theater spaces; assists in identifying and coordinating short and long term maintenance schedules and capital requests; reports equipment issues to the immediate manager and designated administrators.

6. Coordinates the hospitality needs for assigned Grunin Center presented shows.

7. Maintains a clean, orderly, safe, and professional workspace in the backstage areas during production runs.

8. Related projects and duties as assigned.

1. H.S. Diploma; Associate's Degree may be substituted for 2 years of work experience.

2. Four years of documented professional experience in technical theater that included hand's-on experience in technical theater including sound, lighting, stage carpentry, and rigging.

3. Understanding of safety and operational requirements to effectively oversee backstage operations.

4. Ability to serve as a team or project leader as assigned.

1. Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theater or closely related field
