Carpenter Co. is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Surfactant Technical Program Leader to support the growth of the surfactants business. The main focus of the position is to provide technical leadership for market-based product development activities. A key part of this position will be to develop and implement a technical plan to pursue new products and grow the business. Responsibilities include market focused projects in the nonionic surfactants business unit within the Chemicals Division.
Responsibilities:
- Determine which nonionic surfactant products are used in key market areas, how they function, and the properties critical to performance
- Develop and implement a technical plan for the optimal surfactant application areas and products to pursue
- Identify market needs through customer interactions, industry events, and other industry sources; provide technical presentations and training as required
- Coordinate with the Surfactant Sales Group to provide applicable data for marketing materials and work with the Corporate Design Group to craft the data into marketing literature
- Identify and consult on the priority list for synthesis projects
- Assemble regulatory needs for the customer base and key surfactant markets; collaborate with product stewardship to address these needs according to business importance
- Collaborate on manufacturing needs for the nonionic surfactant business
- Help identify business opportunities and justify any CAPEX related to projects
- Monitor surfactant best practices and advances through trade show attendance and patent/literature reviews
- Monitor competitor technologies and activities in these fields and maintain a competitive database of products
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related major preferred- 5+ years of technical experience within the surfactants or related chemical industries
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 25%
