Labcorp is hiring for a Technician position or a Technologist Trainee in Burlington, NC.
The Hospital Services Program is designed to provide our clients with one point of contact for all their needs. Patient care, timely problem investigation, and timely communication to our hospital clients are at the core of the program. A Team member in this position would investigate and provide timely resolution to all client issues while maintaining proper documentation so that patient care is not compromised. Responsibilities include but not limited to retrieving specimens from varying temperatures, tracking, labeling, sorting, and disposing of specimens. Reviewing and responding to emails regarding specimens in a timely manner. Ability to stay organized and handle biological materials, communicate effectively and follow company procedures and policies is needed.
The shift for this position will be 3rd Shift Tuesday-Saturday 12:30am to 9:00am. This position is eligible for a 15% shift differential for 3rd shift.
Job Summary: Performs acceptance of samples into the department and initial preparation of samples for testing according to established standard operating procedures and protocols. This position does not include performing specimen manipulation/testing.

This position works under general supervision.
Principal Functional responsibilities:
- Follows the laboratory’s procedure for sample handling and tracking
- Retrieves samples from Specimen Management
- Scans samples into SRS system
- Investigates any specimen issues during the scanning process: incorrect specimen type or identification
- Scans samples into the CMBPLLS system
- Prints LLS labels for the samples
- Labels samples while confirming specimen identification
- Sorts samples by test in appropriate racks and stores in the refrigerator
- Pulls samples for send out requests
- Understands that all patient’s information is confidential
- Adheres to the laboratory’s quality control policies and maintains appropriate logs and records as required
- Performs assigned duties daily and as needed
- Performs assigned instrument and bench top cleaning
- Maintains adequate stock of working supplies, notifies lead or supervisor of shortage
- Participates in required Continuing Education activities
- Serves as an example and resource for less experienced Laboratory Assistants
- Adheres to lab policies and protocols
- Shows a high level of respect for all lab personnel, supervisors and directors
- Shows willingness to perform duties until they are competed
- Attends all required meetings and represents laboratory in a professional manner

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science (or 24 credits in Chemistry/Biology constituting a biological science major) as required by CLIA.
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred (not required).
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
Preferred: Experience in a clinical lab setting
Administrative experience: maintain logs/records, use of computerized databases, verbal and written communications.
