Job Summary


The DRS Office Coordinator will coordinate the flow of the DRS Office including collaborating with other staff members to ensure student applications are processed according to District requirements. This individual will also collaborate with other staff members to provide support services for students with disabilities which may include: proctoring exams, peer support, securing accessible equipment, resources and materials, guiding student to resources to learn about the equipment, resources, and materials and on and off campus resources. Essential Functions


50% Coordinate the DRS Office Flow/Daily Tasks:

  • Processing student applications and uploading documentation to student profiles (as needed)
  • Scheduling intake/orientation appointments and meeting appointments for DRS Manager
  • Conducting DRS orientations and sending appropriate PowerPoints, documents, and emails
  • Communicating effectively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Maintaining confidential student records in the DRS database
  • Utilizing District databases to support student enrollment and access
  • Answering calls/greeting students who may have direct, specific, subject-sensitive requests
  • Requesting or conducting team meetings to ensure cohesion between team members
  • Consulting with other DRS Office Coordinators through the District on a regular basis.
  • Ordering all resources and services needed for students to ensure access
  • Creating requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, work orders, help desk requests as needed.
  • Creating a task lists for self and other team members; delegating as needed
  • Working side-by-side with the Director/Manager to resolve issues as needed
  • Working with spreadsheets and data input for End of Year reports and similar
  • Submitting requests for adjustments to the DRS SMCC webpage

40% Provide Support Services for Students with Disabilities which may include:

  • Maintaining the semester work order list which includes items such as: brailed materials, PDF format textbooks, note taking assignments, cart systems, closed captioning, and more.
  • Recording, reviewing, and sorting notes from DRS team members or note takers
  • Ordering alternative texts to ensure access to the course and course materials
  • Proctoring quizzes/exams in the DRS testing spaces
  • Providing peer support including assisting students with navigating the enrollment process and Canvas, connecting with faculty, understanding basics of equipment and resources
  • Researching new DRS equipment, vendors, software, or resources.
  • Familiarizing students with adaptive software, My Maricopa, and DRS Connect.
  • Providing referrals to on and off campus resources.
  • Receiving student complaints and communicating facts with DRS Manager

10% Other Duties as Assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office products and Google tools (Docs, Sheets, Forms.)
  • Basic experience with team dynamics, group management, or public speaking
  • Ability to work independently & effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic experience with Maricopa tools (SIS, HCM, FMS, Access), and DRS Connect.
  • Experience working with disability services, confidential information, students with disabilities, or similar.
  • Experience with office coordination, administrative assistance, clerical work, or similar.
  • Bilingual

Special Working Conditions


DRS is part of the Student Development Division that experiences a Peak enrollment period that may require Saturday work during August and January.
