Outstanding data security company has an immediate opening for an experienced, detail oriented, tech savvy Test Engineering Technician to qualify new components, test new hardware and software products, evaluate new products, suggest features and improvements, and perform failure analysis. The candidate will be hard working, responsible, dependable, team oriented and able to multitask in a real-time technical environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Will test new and existing products and clearly document methods and results.
• Will qualify new components, firmware, and software for production and product development efforts.
• •Will be intimately familiar with Company product specification and functionality, and suggest improvements and new functionality
• Troubleshoot and document field failures to identify root cause, and suggest improvements in production, design, or use.
• Will assist with User Manuals for flow, accuracy and verbiage improvements
• Will help maintain a pristine test environment of PCs, Mac’s and Linux systems, etc.
• Will assist the Product Development team as needed
• Will write scripts used in test and production environments
• Be available as needed on (evening) conference calls with customers and vendors
• Will become a technical resource for Tech Support, Sales, Production, Marketing, etc.
• Will help develop technical content as needed for Marketing, Sales, Production, QC, etc.
• Will present a professional demeanor at all times and clearly articulate status, results, and issues to supervisors.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) a plus, technical degree from an accredited college or university or minimum 3 years related experience in a technical environment with experience with hardware, software and firmware test and development.

Specific Skills/Abilities:

Language Skills:

• Clear and polite written English language skills are essential. Must be able to clearly speak English and communicate in written English via letters, e-mail, etc. Typing at +30wpm. Must have a clear understanding of common computer terms.

Computer Skills:

• Experience with benchmarking and testing hardware, with a specific emphasis on external storage.
• Experience with different external storage protocols such as USB 2.0/3.0/3.1, SATA I/II/III, Firewire, PCIe SATA controllers, ThunderBolt, NVMe, etc.
• Experience with different OS environments such as Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10 x86 and x64, Mac OS X 10.8/10.9/10.10/10.11, Linux, NetBSD, Unix, etc.
• Experience with the underlying OS driver stacks and configuration, registry editing (Windows), plist files (Mac), config files (Linux)

Reading Skills:

• Capability to read, analyze and comprehend technical information. Ability to communicate and present information effectively, both verbally and in writing to customers and co-workers.

Mathematic Skills:

• Basic math skills (addition, multiplication, division, percentages, etc.). Basic understanding of Hex and Binary notation.

Reasoning Ability:

• Strong analytical skills are a must. Must be able to develop a methodical approach to troubleshooting computer hardware and software problems over the phone. Recognize common error codes, and the symptoms of common computer malfunctions. Listen to and verify symptoms described by the customer, test and verify individual components in order to isolate the root problem.

Additional Skills:

• Understanding of function and use of search engines, forums , blogs, and newsgroups.
• Detail oriented ability to multitask and follow up on several tasks within a short time period. Ability to follow up on open customer service issues. Must be able to prioritize several different tasks based on deadlines and time available.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $29.00 per hour
