About The Pathway School

Located on a 12-acre campus in Jeffersonville, PA, The Pathway School provides students with special needs academic, social, and life skills to be successful and independent now and after attending Pathway. Pathway is a nonprofit special education school for students ages 5 to 21 (grades K-12+) from over 50 regional school districts and charter schools. Over its 61-year history, the school has grown immensely in population size, currently with 170 students and over 145 staff members. Position: PCA/TSS

Department: Education

Function: Provides therapeutic support to students, on a one-on-one basis, while working in a classroom setting, in coordination with education professionals and a specific team of clinical specialists.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, Education, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a special education classroom aide environment or working specifically with behavior, autistic and/or emotional support needs of a student(s). Must have good written and communication skills.

Compliance:

· Must comply with Act 168 and submit a completed Sexual Misconduct Form.

· Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory PA criminal background check, Child Abuse and FBI clearances.

· Must pass a drug test, as well as a TB Test.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to manage the physical requirements of position which will require work both on-campus and off-campus. This position includes extensive walking, stair climbing, standing, pulling, and lifting. Ability to work with children who are both mentally and physically disabled. This position requires work both indoors and outdoors working in various weather climates.

Services Required:

· Will work with classroom teachers in providing a challenging and successful academic experience for your assigned student.

· Will provide a therapeutic learning environment for the Pathway student on a one-on-one basis.

· Will assist students in accomplishing their assignments; provide support during their lunch and recess periods; and other activities when assigned by the teacher.

· Will assist with classroom management and routine school activities in a positive and supportive manner.

· Will implement specifically designed programs for students as designed by the programming.

· Will collaborate with teacher and students in maintaining Pathway’s Positive Behavior Support Program through data collection and documentation.

· Will effectively monitor student safety and security throughout campus as assigned.

· Will have an elevated level of responsibility for student prompting and reinforcement.

· Will instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, to prevent injuries and damage.

· Will assist in the supervision of games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.

· May be required to assist students in off-site activities such as part-time, off-site job monitoring.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
