Job description
Quality Carriers, Inc. (QC), headquartered in Tampa, FL, is North America's largest bulk liquid chemical carrier. Through a network of more than 100 terminals and facilities, we transport a broad range of chemical products and provide our customers with value-added transportation services.
The primary responsibilities of this position include repairing, modifying, and fabricating large material containers, fluid tanks, trailer chassis', and/or other forms of tanks by welding, grinding, buffing, and chipping while on ladders and at low levels in addition to working at ground level. Must be able to utilize both MIG and TIG and be able to wear a respirator.
Essential Functions:
- Handles welding and fitting both mild steel and stainless steel, welding parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
- Performs thermal cutting and grinding, repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes, increasing the size of metal parts
- Performs welding duties within Confined Spaces/Overhead
- Performs welds on Pressure Vessels
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Certification Preferred but not required
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities (Competencies)
- Prior working experience in an industrial setting
- Possess both welding and fitting skills
- Experience with Pressure Vessels and or R Stamp ASME Certification experience a plus
- Ability to operate an acetylene torch
- Ability to pass onsite Tig/Mig welding test
- Ability to read and comprehend measurements
