TOOL MAKER

Responsibilities

• Follow and maintain all policies, procedures, work instructions and forms including mold work orders and preventive maintenance documents.
• Disassembly and assembly of molds to repair and/or perform preventive maintenance.
• Ensure molds are in proper mechanical working order.
• Diagnose problems and determine corrective actions.
• Examine molded parts and molds to determine feasibility of modifications.
• Modify and/or adjust molds for processing/engineering/functionality purposes.
• Welding, spotting, benching, polishing, drilling, machining and fitting.
• Electrical repair including hot runner manifolds, cables, limit switches, etc.
• Hydraulic/Pneumatic cylinder repair.

Requirements

• Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, approaches or conclusions to problems.
• Identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Determine the appropriate type of tools and equipment necessary to complete prescribed work.
• Manage one’s own time and the time of others.
• Use of mathematics to solve problems.
• Communicating to others both verbal and written to convey information effectively.
• Ability to teach others.
• Standing / Walking: 90% Sitting: 10% Bend / Twist (Rotate body): Often
• Lifting: Up to 100 pounds Pushing / Pulling: Up to 100 pounds
• Additional physical demands: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching required.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years injection mold build / mold repair experience, automotive knowledge helpful.
• Fork Lift and Crane Certifications.
• LOTO procedures.
• Internal applicants must satisfactorily pass the Skilled Trades Aptitude test.
• Detailed knowledge of:

Mold construction. Welding and spotting, micro and laser welding knowledge helpful. High polish knowledge helpful. Hot runner function and repair including electric, hydraulic and pneumatic valve gates. Operating experience with lathes including cutting threads, vertical milling machines, surface grinder and other metal working equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 per hour
